Mayor's Monthly Message - September 2022
It is September and the start of another great month in our community. Labor Day weekend is here and with it the traditional end of summer. Labor day itself is certainly a time for barbecues and events plus it is one of our most important holidays where we honor all of our working families and the generations of individuals that built this great country. It was established to recognize and honor the American labor movement.
September is also the start of a new school year. Our children and educators are back to school with great excitement and enthusiasm. Deptford Township Council, our public safety director and our police department have been working all summer to ensure school safety on our end. We have been leaders in school safety and we will continue to protect our schools, our students and educators. We have worked to get the new middle school up and running for the start of the year. We urge everyone to slow down and watch our students who are walking to school and also getting on and off buses.
You will see our “no need to speed” signs posted at all public properties. The signs are part of speeding control program and they are there to remind everyone to slow down and avoid accidents. Health and safety are concerns for everyone. Working closely with our police department we have assured that our neighborhoods are safe, our businesses are protected and that you can be certain that we are out there every day patrolling and protecting our residents and our visitors.
New business news continues to come in. Jo- Ann Fabrics on Clements Bridge Road will be opening soon. The Bonesaw Brewery is currently under construction. Raising Canes Chicken Fingers have started the process of coming to the old Don Pablos. We will have exciting news soon on a brand new supermarket coming to our town. The Brand new Inspira Medical Center is under construction right across from the mall. The Deptford Mall itself is doing great.
We congratulate our economic development team and Township Council for bringing so many new businesses to our community along with their jobs and ratables. Check out our event schedule and we want to see you soon at one of our great events this season. Stay safe and healthy we will see you soon!
