Mayor's Monthly Message -SEPTEMBER 2026

As we celebrate Labor Day on Monday, September 7th, we honor the hardworking families whose dedication continues to shape our community and our country.

We welcome our Deptford students back to school on September 8th for the 2026–2027 year. Please stay alert in school zones and near bus stops. Do not pass a stopped school bus — it is dangerous and illegal. Allow extra travel time and help us keep every child safe.

Our business community continues to grow. First Watch is expected to open this month, Nordstrom Rack arrives at the end of October, and Goodwill has opened at 1450 Clements Bridge Road. Deptford is also home to outstanding facilities like School of Rock, Nemours Pediatric Center, and Inspira Medical Center. Please remember to support our local businesses, restaurants, breweries, and the Deptford Mall. The variety of businesses strengthens our tax base and keeps our community thriving.

This year, Council worked diligently to manage costs while improving services, enhancing public safety, upgrading infrastructure, and expanding recreation opportunities.

On September 11th, we pause to honor the victims and heroes of the 2001 attacks. Flags will be lowered to half‑staff from sunrise to sundown, and memorial ceremonies will be held throughout the day.
