Note – All Bingo and Raffle Applications should be submitted to the Township Clerk for review and approval at least six weeks in advance of the event to allow for timely processing. 

• The rules for issuing a Game of Chance license include obtaining the Police Department’s finding that the licensees are of good moral character and have not been convicted of a crime. If someone has been convicted of a crime they cannot be involved with a game of chance.

•  Following State guidelines, the Deptford Police Department will be using New Jersey State Police Criminal History Records Information (Form 212A) to assist with their investigation. Each person listed in charge of the Game of Chance will be required to submit the on-line Form 212A.

  The State of New Jersey charges a fee of $20.00, which is paid during the on-line application process. The State conducts their investigations promptly so this process should not exceed seven (7) days. After seven (7) days, the Clerk’s office will immediately mail your Game of Chance Raffle application to the New Jersey LGCCC.

  If the LGCCC does not report any application deficiencies the Clerk’s Office will issue your licenses after fourteen days (14) of the date mailed out.  If the LGCCC finds your application to be deficient, they will contact you directly and cc the Clerk’s Office listing the items that will need to be corrected. Please make us aware of any changes or correspondence with the State during this time.

  BACKGROUND CHECK INSTRUCTIONS

  • Log on to https://www.njportal.com/NJSP/criminalrecords/

  • Click on the “Online 212A” on the lower left side of the page.

  • Provide the Originating Agency Identification Number (ORI) Number: NJ0080200

  • The applicant will follow the prompts for demographic and payment information. Upon completion of the Form the applicant will receive an email confirmation and receipt that will include a confirmation number.

  • The request will be forwarded to the Police Department’s work queue for approval and submission to the New Jersey State Police for processing.

  • Background checks are valid for the course of one (1) year. You may do as many applications as you would like in that 365-day period.
