7/8/2009 - Public Information Center - Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Please take note that a Public Information Center will be conducted on Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Locust Grove Recreation Center.  At the request of the Mayor, the Township and NJDOT have been working cooperatively for the past several months to address pedestrian and bicycle mobility problems and potential solutions in two different areas of Deptford Township.  Preliminary findings and conceptual ideas from the study will be presented by the study consultants - Urban Engineers – for public comment and input.  The public is invited to attend and participate.  NO FORMAL ACTION IS PLANNED.

The two studies are:

  • The Deptford Mall Pedestrian/Bicycle Circulation Study is intended to improve pedestrian and bicycle access and safety to the Deptford Mall and its surrounding commercial establishments.  This study includes specific strategies aimed at completing important elements of the pedestrian and bicycle network in the region, improving pedestrian and bicycle accommodation at specific locations, and improving overall bicycle and pedestrian safety on the surrounding roadway network.

  • The Village Boulevard Treatment Study is a traffic calming study intended to create a safer pedestrian and bicycle environment along Village Boulevard.  Village Boulevard is a municipal street located in a residential area with partial pedestrian and bicycle accommodation and reported high vehicle speeds.  Identified solutions address vehicle speeds and safe pedestrian and bicycle accommodation.
