Press Release - Annual Celebration in Remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Deptford Township Mayor & Council is hosting the annual celebration in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

 

Students in grades 1 – 3 are encouraged to design a poster, which they creatively title, expressing their feelings about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Entries should be on standard size poster board.  Students in grades 4 – 12 are encouraged to write an essay of no more than 500 words, in which they creatively title, expressing their feelings about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our theme this year is “Dr. King strongly believed in being of service to others, in what ways can we as a community be of service to others?”

 

There will be one (1) winner chosen from each participating classroom from Grades 1 - 6, one winner from each participating classroom from the Middle School and one (1) winner chosen from each Grade Level at the High School.

 

Winners will receive awards specially selected for this memorable event and will be invited to share their posters or essays with the community in a public ceremony at the Deptford Township Recreation Center, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 6:00PM.  Deptford Township is honored to have Senate President Stephen Sweeney as the evening's keynote speaker.
